HISTORY/PERSONALITY
Born in Seoul to two wonderful parents, Rose's early years were just as peaceful and perfect as anyone could imagine. She grew up playing with her neighbors outside and trying to make as many friends as she could, though she wasn't exactly the best at the latter so she spent a lot of time playing on her own. The older she got, Rose realized how different she was from everyone else. Everyone at school had a lot of friends while Rose only had a few people that she would even consider acquaintances. It didn't help that Rose was made fun of a lot for her blunt and often chilly nature, and as the years went on it only got worse and worse. She hated school and did everything to get out of it much to the annoyance of her parents. What started out as kids just being kids had turned into full blown bullying, and neither her teachers and parents were doing anything to fix it and it just got to the point where Rose couldn't hold her tongue any longer. She began to lash out at the people who tormented her, which made her situation worse and worse until she just couldn't take it anymore.

On a day like any other, the bullying that had always been verbal turned physical and her powers manifested in the absolute worst way possible. One of her tormentors struck her and Rose, already so close to the boiling point just erupted and literally lit the whole room on fire and killed every other student in the room. She was the only survivor of the very localized fire, escaping it completely unscathed. Rose remembers very little from this day and the days following it; she was taken from the school and put into a hospital where she was poked and prodded at to see if they could replicate what happened, but she was seemingly so broken that her powers either wouldn't - or couldn't - manifest again. It wasn't a fluke but since nothing was happening she was released back to her family and as soon as they were able to take her out of the country, they packed her up and moved back to her mother's home country, Australia.

It took months for Rose to open up again, and even longer for her to be able to attend school again though her education didn't suffer all that much because she was home-schooled and tutored and she was always going through both her parents' old school books when she had the chance. When she finally went back to school she distanced herself from people and just became the typical loner, which was quite easy because of the language barrier. Learning English from books was fine but it was completely different in person, and it took her until her first year of high school to finally feel completely comfortable conversing in English even if she didn't do it all that often.

Since Rose spent so much time alone and she could only read so much, she did as much as she could to learn about her power and what she could do and what she couldn't. If she ever wanted to have a real life she needed to learn how to control it, and she forced herself to practice and practice until she felt like she had reached an acceptable level of control. She felt more comfortable in crowds than she ever had, and though school still set her on edge she wasn't absolutely terrified to attend. All of her schooling passed without incident, and she even managed to make a few friends by the end of the year. She didn't have a date at prom, but she went and was so proud of herself that she didn't re-enact Carrie and burn everyone alive.

Choosing a university proved difficult for Rose, considering she had to take her temperament and powers into account. So she started researching where someone like her could attend school as safely as possible, and there was one resounding answer: Hong Kong. So she picked up a book to help her learn Mandarin during the summer, applied the University of Hong Kong and got in, told her parents and made it happen. That had been three years ago, and now her Mandarin was...passable, she was actually enjoying school and making friends. She's still iffy about using her powers at all and stays out of the politics as much as possible, but lately she's been having a hard time keeping her mouth shut at the treatment of some of her mutant peers.

ABILITY
As a pyrokinetic, Rose can manipulate existing flame sources, and very recently she has developed enough control to finally start creating her own flames, though at the moment she can only create small flames and it takes quite a lot out of her to do even that. Using an existing flame as a conduit, Rose is able to manipulate the flame to do whatever she wants though she is limited to the size of the initial flame. A lit candle couldn't become a flamethrower, though that hasn't stopped her from trying it. Emotion plays a big part in the strength of Rose's power; the angrier she is, the more powerful she can be. In the most extreme of cases, her whole body will erupt into flames and she is able to harness the flames around her body to be used as a weapon; though this doesn't last long and she will be extremely fatigued afterwards.

As is probably obvious, Rose is immune to heat; she cannot sustain burns from flame, her own or not. She feels more comfortable in warm places though heat doesn't influence her power any, there has to be a direct flame around her for that to happen. On the flip-side, cold places are the worst for her. While it does take a lot for her to start feeling cold because her body produces so much heat, once she feels a chill she becomes lethargic and sluggish and her powers diminish; if she becomes too cold, she isn't able to control flames at all, her own or not.

If for some reason she gets wet, Rose's powers become pretty much useless. She can still control outside flames if she really tries, but it really takes it out of her and she doesn't feel like its worth the trouble. If she is completely submerged in water, she will literally become powerless. While it won't kill her, being in a large body of water for any amount of time just makes her feel uncomfortable and diminished and she avoids it whenever possible.
